Pallas is known as the asteroid of wisdom. Its assigned number in astronomy is #0002, following Ceres at #0001. Pallas is the third- largest discovered asteroid in size. The name Pallas originates from the Greek

goddess Athena, who bears the alternate name of Pallas Athene. This name originates from when Athena was younger, when she accidentally murdered her best friend during her practice of martial arts. At the time, her name was simply Pallas, so out of respect, she took on her friend’s name– Athena. There are also legends that this was the other way around (Pallas was the friend and Athena accidentally murdered Pallas). Regardless, the qualities commonly associated with Athena have been correlated to the Pallas asteroid.

About Athena

Athena was a very unconventional goddess. She remained unmarried and guided herself to self-improvement and skill refinement. Athena’s most renowned qualities were her wisdom and intelligence, both of which she possessed large quantities of. Athena repre-sents one’s ability to think for themself, as opposed to following the crowd and doing as one is told.

About Pallas

Astrologically, Pallas represents our wisdom, self-guidance, puzzle-solving, logic, and intuition. Pallas guides us to think cognitively, discovering patterns and applying logic to situations using past experiences as a guide. A key difference between the thinking ofMercury and the wisdom of Pallas is that Mercury typically follows reason, planning, and research. The logic and thinking of Pallas is more ‘refined’, so to speak; Pallas is usually associated with pattern recognition, philosophy, and thinking for the sake of discovery. You may think of Pallas as thinking not of what is- but what could be.

Furthermore, Pallas represents the ability to negotiate conflict, or the ability for someone to prevent any ‘losers’ within said conflict. It is also said to represent your relationship to your father figure, or males in general. The sign Pallas is in influences the topics an individual may focus on or apply themselves to; whereas the house may influence what settings these methods of thinking may manifest most often or most potently.

For example, a Libra Pallas in the fourth house may demonstrate an inward focus on equality and fairness, but a falter indecisiveness.

The fourth house implies that this thinking is prevalent through roots and family, more particularly with a maternal figure.

As such, someone with this placement may feel as if they and a mother/other maternal figure deserve mutual respect or uplifting, and when this is not accomplished, they will be more likely to act to rectify this issue.
